Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Points Help When Muscular Tension is Causing Bigger Problems
Trigger points are often referred to as “knots” by patients who are experiencing them, as they often manifest as a hard lump within a muscle. Typically the trigger point itself is painful, but it may also refer pain to other areas of the body or create tingling or numbness in adjacent areas by interfering with the nerve or blood supply to that area. The trigger point massage therapist applies pressure to the trigger point to cause it to release the tension. This is sometimes temporarily uncomfortable, but the reward is the release of the tension that was causing the pain, tingling or numbness to begin with.
